I'm a God in an Online Game

Chapter 14

“Haaa!” Coming back to his senses, Meng Jingtian looked at the crimson words and bitterly smiled. He shook his head, not wanting to recall that period of his past.

Godslayer Hall’s custom was to post their target on the forum once they had accepted a mission. In the game, they would also make world announcements three times. The purpose of this bombastic style was to flaunt their absolute strength.

Meng Jingtian opened the post and looked it over. It was just a Class C mission. It seemed that the person who issued the mission wasn’t that rich!

The other party clearly hated him to the bones, or else they wouldn’t have gone to Godslayer Hall, but they also weren’t particularly rich.

The five guilds were all wealthy. If they had issued the mission, it definitely wouldn’t be a mere Class C.

Who else could it be? It could only be Bai Wensheng.

Meng Jingtian narrowed his eyes, his lips curling into a smile. A hint of excitement appeared in his eyes.

The legend of Godslayer Hall? I failed to shatter it last time, but let’s see how I do this time!

In this game, he was a ‘god’! He would like to see if Godslayer Hall could maintain their invincible legend in front of a true ‘god’!

Closing the forum, Meng Jingtian returned to the game. As expected, in the world channel, he saw the ‘announcement’ that Godslayer Hall had just posted.

This was Godslayer Hall’s first mission in ‘Tomorrow’, so the moment the announcement appeared, it immediately drew the attention and curiosity of many players. Who was this Meng Jingtian?

Because one could not create their own character in ‘Tomorrow’, everyone had entered the game with their real name. Those powerhouses who had dominated other games were no longer so easily recognized.

After all, who knew if the real names of those godly players with majestic IDs were just ordinary names like Zhang San, Li Si, or Wang Mazi?

“Brother Tian? Is that scoundrel Burial Sword making trouble for you again? I was hoping that you would save me, but it seems that you’ll have a hard time just protecting yourself! Why don’t you go offline for a few days?” Although Cai Minghou had been locked up by NPCs in a little cell, he could still read the player chats, so he quickly sent over a message of ‘condolence’.

“Go offline for how many days? And stop grinding? You know that Godslayer Hall doesn’t give up that easily,” Meng Jingtian quickly replied.

“Relax! It’s not Burial Sword. If it were him, he wouldn’t issue a mere Class C. Just wait quietly for me to save you!”

“What? Only a Class C?” The scatterbrained Cai Minghou realized that he had been overly concerned.

“I was saying! This game just started, so who in the world would spend so much money on a big mission?! Alright, you’ll just be dying once anyway, so come and save me! I’ll try and think of a way out on my end too,” Cai Minghou heartlessly said, dropping the courtesy.

After conversing with Cai Minghou, Meng Jingtian decided to still log off.

Of course, it wasn’t because he was afraid of Godslayer Hall. It was because it was night in the game, and while the majority of NPCs were sleeping, he couldn’t complete any missions. In addition, the monsters outside of the city became much more powerful, reducing the efficiency of grinding. It was better to sign off and save his energy.

It was night in the game but only noon in reality. Meng Jingtian summoned his computer projection and spent twenty alliance coins on a nutritional set meal.

Two minutes later, his doorbell rang, and an intelligent robot opened the door and came in with his ‘lunch takeout’.

After eating and drinking his fill, Meng Jingtian went to the apartment’s shared gym and worked out a little before returning to the game world.

It was now daybreak in the game. Meng Jingtian went to pick up Little Stone and take him to Rupud’s home.

As he was a ‘god’, the owner of Fragrant Pavilion didn’t object to Little Stone being taken away.

“Old Ru! Open the door!” Meng Jingtian knocked on the door and yelled.

After completing several missions, he had grown very familiar with Rupud, and he no longer needed all those empty courtesies.

“So early?” Opening the door, Rupud was astonished to see Meng Jingtian and Little Stone.

Under Meng Jingtian’s advice, Rupud was no longer wearing that black cloak that almost completely concealed his body, instead wearing the blue robes commonly worn by inhabitants of Seaside City.

His golden hair made Little Stone very curious, but as Meng Jingtian was present, he kept his manners and warmly greeted Rupud.

Rupud had not communicated with people in a long time and was very nervous, but he still warmly led the pair into his shack and served western pastries that he had made himself.

Meng Jingtian acted as a temporary translator between the two of them. As long as he repeated their words exactly, the other party would naturally hear the words translated by the system into a language they could understand.

As it was Meng Jingtian, this ‘god’, who had introduced them, the two of them put aside their concerns over each other’s differences and began to get along.

Meng Jingtian told Rupud that as Little Stone didn’t understand the western language, he could teach Rupud the eastern language through physical objects and actions, as if he was teaching a child.

Rupud said that he understood and began his studies on the spot.

As an alchemist, Rupud possessed formidable intelligence and excellent memory. It didn’t take long for him to learn a few simple phrases and to ‘chat’ with Little Stone.

With a whoosh, Meng Jingtian shot up from his chair.

“Ding! Congratulations! ‘God’s Salvation’ mission complete!”

“Ding! Congratulations! You have obtained your first fervent believer! You may summon your fervent believer at any location and activate a belief buff to increase your capabilities.”

“Ding! Congratulations! Level up!”

The notifications made Meng Jingtian feel as if a great weight had been lifted off his shoulders. Level 24!

He was now the highest-leveled player in the game. He was now confident that there was a way to shatter the legend of Godslayer Hall!

“Well then, continue chatting. I have some matters to attend to!” After saying his goodbyes, Meng Jingtian rushed out and made his way toward the teleportation portal in the central square.

“My apologies! Great God, the rules state that even you must pay 10 gold coins to use the teleportation portal to Black Tortoise City!” a guard wearing silver armor standing in front of the teleportation portal said to Meng Jingtian, an embarrassed look on his face.

Meng Jingtian’s mouth twitched. He did not have 10 gold coins.

Although Rupud had sold his potions for quite a few gold coins, those were all Rupud’s. The small missions Meng Jingtian had completed earlier had only earned him several dozen copper coins.

Meng Jingtian recalled the Guild Formation Token he had put up for auction. Wondering if it had been sold yet, he immediately opened the screen.

“Holy shit! Two million! Where the hell did these guys get so much game currency?” Meng Jingtian couldn’t help but sullenly grumble upon seeing the price.

The Guild Formation Token’s auction was still ongoing, and the various guilds were still making bids, so he could only look at this eye-popping sum, not take it!

“Truly, lack of a single coin can even bring down a hero!” Meng Jingtian couldn’t help but sigh.
